About Us

“Born Richard Valenzuela on May 13 of 1941 in California, Valens made a name for himself in mainstream radio, paving the way for future hispanic artists for generations to come. Tragically at just 17 years old, he, along with 2 other musicians: Buddy Holly, J.P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson, and pilot Roger Peterson, died in a plane crash in the winter of 1959 in what has now come to be known as “The day the music died”, as popularized by the 1971 hit song “American Pie”.

Valens dared to be different and it is what made him successful in his brief time as a musician bringing a touch, sound, and vibe that was unheard of at the time with the classic Mexican folk song “La Bamba’’, a song known by many today, after several decades when Valens first broke into mainstream radio. We at La Bamba strive to follow suit by bringing dishes and flavors not seen in New York! Our meats are flame-grilled, our tortillas are traditionally made right from the kernels of the corn, our marinades and sauces are all in house made, and some ingredients we import to bring you that true authentic taste to your palate! Just as in California, we strive to provide a farm-to-table experience, sourcing many of our organic products from local farms!

Welcome to La Bamba!
